Industry Trends - The Future of English Language Teaching...

With the opportunities for educators in Canada, the USA, UK and Australia and New Zealand stagnant due to declining populations of nationalized citizens and the ongoing economic issues facing so much of the Western World, most educators now recognize that the future of education is rooted in three growing global trends; namely that of English language, standardized testing and an increase in educational technology.

These three areas will be paramount as a survey shows that teachers and administrators alike anticipate that students will be speaking English for work, and taking more exams to attend schools as well as using more technology, regardless of where one teaches in the world.

English Teaching Professional magazine has published results of a survey of teachers in over 110 countries on their opinions on the future of English language teaching. It found that "sixty-six percent of teachers and administrators thought there would be an increase in the importance of English as a global language over the next ten years and over 80 percent thought that the numbers of students would increase accordingly.

Almost all the teachers thought students would want an English qualification as a result of their studies-either in general English or in a specialist English subject.

Ninety percent of teachers believe technology and the Internet will grow increasingly important in the classroom. The message for schools seems clear: gear up for exam classes and make sure you are up to date with technology- based resources!"

All courses are certified and you will receive a certificate of completion, which is internationally recognized and accepted when you graduate from the course. Many of those who already have experience as TEFL instructors are finding that becoming a certified TEFL trainer is another opportunity and feather in their cap in terms of meeting the demand of TEFL instructors (who are leaving their home countries and working abroad) by teaching others how to teach TEFL effectively.
